They can be hit out of non-traditional fairway wood lies, and sweep through the grass easily. It’s not quite as versatile as a hybrid in that regard – don’t try hitting it out of deep rough or if the ball is buried– but it’s a great choice for players who like to use their woods whenever possible because it’s designed to make more balls outside of the fairway into playable shots.
